Field Safety is built on a structured approach that covers five critical areas: researching locations and assessing risk before you arrive, managing vehicle safety while traveling, handling on-site interactions, de-escalating conflict, and adapting your approach across different environments. You'll develop a repeatable framework that replaces informal habits with consistent practices.

This course provides a framework. It focuses on preparation, awareness, and decision-making before, during, and after fieldwork.

People doing this work should not have to rely on instinct alone. Keeping teams safe requires training, clear protocols, and leaders who make safety a priority.

MODULE 01

Research and Risk Assessment

Evaluate locations and individuals before entering the field. Identify risk factors, select appropriate timing, and anticipate problems before they occur. Also addresses how your own identity and presence affect safety in different environments.
